Batik Art Inspirations from nature

I took these pictures from Entebbe Wildlife education centre. I was amazed by the seeming crack effect that is too common with batik art in these trees against the clear blue sky.

A LOOK AT THE GLOBAL VILLAGE CONCEPT

Image
THE GLOBAL VILLAGE (2012) Size: 49x44 inches In this new batik I was exploring the common concept of the world being in a global village whereby something that happens in one corner of the globe can have an impact on the rest of the globe. I created a interconnection, initially originating from the 2 cubes near the upper right corner. This is where the incident happened and it spread around these two and beyond. The background to this picture is the global financial crisis which started in both the US and Europe but its consequences have been felt everywhere including in my village. A case in point is the cut in funding by the donors to the provision of ARV medication which is critical to the survival of many HIV positive patients.
