MY FIRST ANIMAL BATIK

This is a batik that I was not ready to do but later agreed to take on the challenge. A hippo with young on the beach side. I thank God because this was an unexpected success and the beginning of more animal batik projects in the new year 2011.

In this new work I'm focusing on wildlife and elephants in particular. I have done several paintings on elephants. This one is a little more interesting as it shows part of the face, particularly, the eye. Emphasis is on a network of skin wrinkles on the face of an old matriarch or the lead cow. I did it with a modern approach making it a 'modern elephant'.

BUTTERFLY SERIES

 Back in 2017 I visited one of the biggest tropical forests in Uganda where I saw lots of butterflies on the forest floor. This led to a series featuring a number of butterfly paintings.
